Village Manager Andy Pederson told the Village of Bayside Board on Sept. 11 that the village has received a HUD grant in full and that construction of the new North Shore Library is expected to be completed around Dec. 15, 2025.
Trustee Margaret Zitzer, reporting on library matters, said the summer reading program saw increased participation across children, teens and adults and that the library is conducting a strategic planning process; a community survey is open through Sept. 12, 2025. Pederson said all communities have made their contributions to the capital effort and that an interdepartmental short‑term loan agreement is anticipated to be brought before the board in October.
Public Works Director Shane Albers provided a broader capital projects update: the pickleball and tennis court rehabilitation is complete; West Glencoe Place sanitary sewer capacity improvements are complete; milling and paving for the 2025 road and stormwater management project are underway; the Port Washington Road sidewalk installation is complete and grass is establishing; and the village solar expansion project is complete and commissioned.
No formal votes were taken on construction schedules or loan agreements at the Sept. 11 meeting. Trustees commended staff for their response to an August flooding event and were informed that staff continue to work through FEMA processes related to that event.
