Bayside board endorses North Shore Fire Department fee schedule, levy exception recommendation and five-year apparatus plan

On Oct. 16 the Village of Bayside Board of Trustees approved three North Shore Fire Department items aimed at stabilizing funding and planning equipment replacement.
North Shore Fire Chief Whitaker presented Resolution 25-18, recommending a move to a bundled fee structure for the 2026 Fees for Service schedule; the board approved the resolution unanimously. Chief Whitaker then discussed Resolution 25-19 and recommended that member municipalities adopt a levy-limit exception under 2005 Wisconsin Act 484 to allow communities to exceed state levy caps for North Shore Fire Department charges; the board approved Resolution 25-19 unanimously. Finally, Chief Whitaker presented Resolution 25-20, a multi-year capital plan to purchase large apparatus and equipment from 2026–2030; the resolution passed unanimously.
Trustee Barth moved each resolution and motions were seconded by Trustee Zitzer (25-18 and 25-19) and by Trustee Rudman (25-20). The actions reflect regional coordination through the North Shore Fire Department and establish a multi-year funding approach for equipment replacement and fee structuring.
