The Silver Creek Township Board of Planning and Zoning met July 1 and approved a variance for Nierengarten, combined three parcels into a single parcel identification (PID), and granted a renewal for Flakne with a review-if-complaint condition. The meeting opened with routine approvals of the agenda and prior meeting minutes and concluded with adjournment.
Chairman Chris Klein called the meeting to order. A motion by Brandon Geyen to approve the agenda, seconded by Mark Egge, carried 8-0. A separate motion by Tom Vanek to approve the June 3, 2025 meeting minutes was seconded by Justin Hall and carried 7-0; Brandon Geyen was recorded as abstaining on that vote.
On land-use business, Mark Egge moved to approve the variance requested by Nierengarten and to combine three parcels into one PID; Ryan Nelson seconded the motion and it carried 8-0. The minutes record the board’s action to both grant the variance and consolidate the three parcels into a single parcel identification number.
On a separate item, Chairman Klein moved to approve Flakne’s renewal with a stipulation that no further reviews would be required unless a complaint is filed; if a complaint occurs, the item should be reviewed within the calendar year of the complaint. Mike Helman seconded that motion, and it carried 8-0.
The meeting closed after a motion by Brandon Geyen, seconded by Mark Egge, to adjourn; that motion carried 8-0. The minutes list guests on a sign-in sheet but do not record public comment text, specific conditions beyond the Flakne review-if-complaint stipulation, or a next meeting date.
