Silver Creek Board to review chip-seal requests and schedule road tour

The Silver Creek Township Board discussed multiple road-maintenance priorities at its July 16 meeting, including residents’ requests to chip-seal 105th Street and Amery Avenue, remaining shouldering work on 119th and 120th streets, and ditch-cleaning on 95th Street NW.
Maintenance staff reported that shouldering at 119th and 120th and at dead-ends remains to be completed, that ditches on 95th St NW need cleaning, and that the Ziegler vehicle has an oil leak. The board agreed to schedule a road tour to evaluate priorities and said Chair Chris Newman, Maintenance worker Chris Klein and Supervisor Sandy Forsman will first review the township pit (Starry) before bringing the chip-seal request back to the full board in late August or early September for budget consideration.
Dust-control (road stabilization) will be handled on an as-needed basis; Maintenance will follow up with the clerk to identify likely locations and budget implications. The minutes also note the board will seek quotes for tree trimming and intends to send letters to two residents whose driveways were reported to have damaged township roads.
The board did not set a specific date for the road tour in the minutes and did not authorize immediate chip-seal work; the item will return to a future meeting for fuller consideration.
