Bayside trustees approve ordinance standardizing yield signage at subdivision intersections

The Village of Bayside Board of Trustees unanimously approved Ordinance 26-764 on Jan. 13, 2026, amending § 47-32 of the municipal code to designate which vehicular traffic must yield at specific intersections.
Manager Andy Pederson told trustees the ordinance responds to inconsistent signage within a subdivision where some intersections used yield signs, others used stop signs or no signage. The ordinance changes affect intersections involving Pelham, Fielding and Greenvale (north–south approaches) and Wahner, Wabash and Buttles (east–west approaches). "The changes are intended to provide consistency throughout the subdivision," Pederson said.
Trustee Ben Minkin asked whether other intersections might need signage; Pederson said a few additional locations may be reviewed in the future. Trustee Minkin moved to approve the ordinance; Trustee Kavin Tedamrongwanish seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
The ordinance was approved as presented; the board did not specify a separate implementation schedule or effective date during the meeting. The matter will appear in the municipal code as amended and staff may follow up on any additional intersection reviews identified by public works.
