The City of Broken Bow Council adopted Ordinance No. 1265, an amended wage ordinance, at its regular meeting on Jan. 24, 2023, and approved two municipal appointments.
Mayor Rod Sonnichsen called the meeting to order at 6 p.m. The council opened and closed a public hearing on Ordinance No. 1265 at 6:21–6:23 p.m.; City Administrator Knoell told the council the only change to the wage ordinance was switching the Treasurer and Deputy Clerk classifications. Councilmember David Schmidt moved to suspend the statutory rule requiring reading on final passage; Councilmember David Baltz seconded the motion. The motion carried on a roll call vote. Final passage of Ordinance No. 1265 was approved by the council with Holland, Baltz and Schmidt voting aye and no recorded nays.
During the same meeting the council approved the appointment of Megan Linn as City Treasurer and Madison Neely as Deputy Clerk. Both appointments were approved on roll call votes with aye: Schmidt, Holland and Baltz and no nays recorded.
The meeting record indicates the council also approved routine bills and minutes as part of a consent agenda and postponed a claim to the Nebraska Department of Transportation for the full purchase price of a Handi Bus, $34,242.00, to the Feb. 14, 2023 meeting.
The ordinance adoption and appointments complete ordinary personnel and pay-plan business for the city; no salary figures beyond the stated reclassification were discussed in the recorded minutes. The council adjourned at 6:32 p.m.
