Council consents to Blue Earth County cannabis registrations
Summary

Vernon Center’s council voted to approve a previously tabled resolution consenting to Blue Earth County issuing registrations for retail cannabis businesses within the city.
Clerk Kara Hansen explained the resolution had been carried over from a prior meeting. Councilor Emily Edwards moved to approve Resolution 2025‑12 providing consent to Blue Earth County to issue retail cannabis business registrations; Councilor Wendy Bennett seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
At the same time the council adopted the Minnesota Historical Society’s General Retention Schedule for Minnesota Cities, which will allow the city to lawfully dispose of certain records after the retention period specified by the Society.
Council did not elaborate additional local regulations regarding retail cannabis operations during the recorded discussion; the resolution grants the county the authority described in the motion, and clerks were instructed to file the adopted schedule per records-management requirements.
