Board tables Chapter 5 revision; requests specific special-education student–teacher ratios

During the second viewing of Chapter 5 (Students — Part 1), board members requested inclusion of specific special-education student–teacher ratios in item 8.5. Mrs. Wendy Hall moved to table the item until those ratios are drafted for inclusion; Mrs. Pattie Weber seconded the motion and the board tabled the item. The board noted the revised policy will be presented at next month’s regular meeting.
Why it matters: specific ratios define staffing expectations and can affect special-education service levels, budgets and compliance with federal and state requirements. The minutes do not record proposed ratio numbers or an implementation timeline; the board instructed staff to return with revised language.
