NAVIT funding reaches roughly $122,800 for FY26; business manager flags declining forest-fee balance and enrollment dip

The Heber-Overgaard Unified School District No. 6 reported a boost in career-technical funding and raised caution about local revenue trends during its Feb. 10 governing-board meeting.
Mr. Matt Weber reported that NAVIT funding for FY26 is $122,831, which he described as the highest level in roughly 20 years. "The district has brought in $2.4 million since joining the program in 2000," Weber said, and he noted about 20–25 district students participate in NAVIT programs.
Business Manager Andrea Despain told the board the district’s overall budget is currently stable with no negative balances but said the forest-fee balance used for items such as prep-hour coverage and classified-staff stipends is declining and those funds are not expected to be renewed. She also reported the district is down approximately 12 students in average daily membership (ADM) compared with the prior reporting period.
Why it matters: NAVIT revenue supports career-technical programming and student pathways; a declining special fund and falling enrollment can reduce local flexibility for staffing and stipends. The board received the reports as informational items; no budget adjustments were proposed at the Feb. 10 meeting.
The superintendent also reported continuing work on paperwork to list district land parcels for sale and said more than 1,700 bills have been filed in the state legislature that could affect future contract-inflation indexing, noting the district is monitoring potential legislative impacts.
