Under the amendment the district will require proof of the special‑event policy, and operations staff will update the facilities‑use permit language to reflect the new insurance requirement. The administration said the change is meant to balance community requests for event rentals with the district’s need to manage risk and ensure coverage for potentially hazardous equipment.
The board’s approval will take effect immediately; operations staff were directed to post updated permit language and to return implementation details to the board in January.
The change does not remove any other facility‑use conditions; organizers must still provide a legal description/site plan if a fenced area is required for long‑term uses such as a community garden.
