Council approves treasurer’s report, water-project funds reported; clerk to resign Jan. 1

City Treasurer Lon Whitehead presented the September financial report showing receipts of $23,448.95 and payables of $12,555.64, and the council voted to accept the report and pay the bills.
The minutes recorded a total fund balance of $935,809.46 and a Water Tower/Pump House project fund balance of $427,696.84. The council also amended the September minutes to include an earlier recorded treasurer’s report (August receipts of $20,769.85 and payables of $83,497.74) and recorded that the amendment passed unanimously.
Council members noted that City Clerk Marnie—absent from the meeting—will resign effective Jan. 1, 2025, and discussed steps to find a replacement. The clerk will send reminder letters to residents with water and garbage balances over 90 days past due.
Shirley Piepho moved to accept the treasurer’s report and to pay the bills; Eric Manske seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
