Mayor Paige Attarian told the council she has acquired engineered drawings of the city's tile and sewer system and that the council is seeking answers about who is responsible for storm-sewer and tile maintenance. The topic was raised during public forum after recent heavy rains led to localized flooding and reports of water in basements.
Charlie Berg asked about storm-sewer maintenance; Attarian said the council is working to determine responsibility for both common tile lines and resident tile lines. To help locate problem areas, Attarian asked residents who experienced basement flooding to email the city clerk so the city can attempt to trace issues and prevent future damage.
The council recorded no formal motion on maintenance responsibility; Mayor Attarian said the work of determining jurisdiction and maintenance plans is ongoing and will continue as staff and council review the engineered drawings and resident reports.
