Broken Bow council delays decision on Well Head Protection Plan until Oct. 25

Mayor Rod Sonnichsen called the Broken Bow City Council to order Oct. 11 and the council opened a public hearing on Ordinance 1264, the Well Head Protection Plan, at 6:02 p.m. City Administrator Dan Knoell asked the council to defer action so representatives from JEO could attend the Oct. 25 meeting to present and answer questions.
The council closed the public hearing at 6:04 p.m. and then voted to postpone waiving the ordinance’s third reading until Oct. 25. The motions to open and close the hearing, and to postpone consideration, were moved by Councilmember David Schmidt and seconded by Councilmember Larry Miller; roll call votes were recorded as aye by Schmidt and Miller and none opposed.
No final action was taken on Ordinance 1264; the council directed that the item be placed on the Oct. 25 agenda when JEO representatives will be present to address the council’s questions. The council’s next meeting will include that agenda item for further discussion and potential vote.
