The MSD of New Durham Township School Board approved a package of personnel actions, new high school science textbooks and the district financials during its July 17, 2024 meeting.
Personnel: The minutes list resignations from Dr. Sandra Wood (Superintendent), Keely Qualkenbush (custodian) and Robyn Markos (middle school cheer coach). The board approved recommendations to hire or appoint Toni Biancardi (supplemental payment), Stephanie Hunsley (high school math teacher), Ali Hisick (middle school boys' volleyball head coach), Benjamin Dermody (JV boys' basketball coach), Melanie Markos (middle school cheer coach) and Adam Lesniewski (maintenance technician). The board also approved a contract renewal for Rylee Kruck as Athletic Director/Director of Transportation and recorded an approved FMLA leave for Kristen Popp. A single motion to approve the resignations, recommendations, contract renewal and leave was made by Board President Mark Parkman and seconded by Wayne Hodge; the minutes state the motion carried.
Textbooks and policy: Karen Jedrysek moved and Wayne Hodge seconded approval of the high school science textbooks; the motion carried. The board completed a first reading of NEOLA Policy Updates 36-1 and June special updates; the minutes note no action was needed on the first reading.
Other business: The proposed middle/high school student handbook was tabled. The minutes include a brief solar update in which a presenter identified only as Chris referenced NIPSCO billing and noted that Mr. Lesniewski and Mr. Carlton will attend a Fronius class; no action was recorded on that item. The board acknowledged a thank-you letter from the Westville High School Alumni and adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
