Waukesha City—s Board of Public Works approved payments on Jan. 22 tied to recent project change orders and heard several routine reports and notices.
City staff explained the payments would follow final tabulation of a change order tied to the August Winters Fire Station 1 project and clarified funding: staff twice referred to the item as "Grama" in discussion and then stated the Fire Station 1 work is 100% grant funded. Staff said the city applied for grant money for both that project and a cemetery project referenced in the agenda.
Staff reported 21 snow-plow events so far this season, noting the city averages about 20—25 events per season and that the season appears busier than normal. Staff also announced the drop-off center would be closed on Saturday due to extreme cold (about -12 degrees in the morning).
On project notices staff outlined the Davidson Road limits: from Main Street east to the city limits, with asphalt resurfacing on the west end (near the car dealer and cul-de-sac) and full reconstruction east of Hillcrest Drive toward the school and the town of Brookfield boundary.
During public comment a resident asked whether the sidewalk replacement program still included a 4% surcharge; staff said the council recently changed the policy so the city pays for replacements in the general program and there is no 4% surcharge unless a property owner specifically requests replacement of squares that do not meet condemnable criteria, in which case the owner can be invoiced (plus the 4% administrative cost).
A motion to approve payments was moved and seconded; the board approved the item by voice vote.
