Maricopa County deputies report drop in calls and major crimes in Gila Bend

Lieutenant Miranda of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office told the Gila Bend Town Council on Jan. 13 that calls for service in the district decreased from roughly 4,300 to just below 2,600 compared with 2022 levels, representing about a 40% reduction. The lieutenant said deputies’ proactive work contributed to the decline.
During the same period the office reported assaults fell by more than 57% and burglaries declined nearly 50%, Lieutenant Miranda said. The council did not take action on the report; MCSO updates are informational and not subject to council vote according to the agenda rules.
Councilmembers asked no follow‑up policy votes tied to the report during the meeting. The data presented were summary statistics from MCSO for the district and were not accompanied by detailed charts in the meeting minutes.
