Gadsden board approves equipment recycling, policy updates and a slate of personnel actions

At its Sept. 10 meeting the Gadsden Elementary School District board approved recycling obsolete technology at no cost, adopted ASBA policy advisories, delegated fundraising approvals to the superintendent and ratified multiple personnel actions including new hires and resignations.
The Gadsden Elementary School District Governing Board voted on several administrative items at its Sept. 10 meeting, approving the disposal of outdated technology, adopting Arizona School Board Association policy advisories, delegating fundraiser approvals to the superintendent and ratifying a slate of personnel actions.
CFO Mr. Bernhard asked the board to approve recycling obsolete and unsupported district equipment through a vendor (RebootTechRecycling) that, the administration said, "will ensure all data remaining is erased." Clerk Tadeo De La Hoya moved to approve the disposal; Rosa Varela seconded and the motion passed 5–0.
On policy, Superintendent Lizette Esparza presented ASBA Policy Services Advisories Nos. 792–800 for a second and final reading. The board approved the advisories, with Clerk Tadeo De La Hoya recorded as abstaining because of family ties noted on the record; the meeting record shows the motion carried 4–1.
The board also delegated authority to the District Superintendent to review and approve all school fundraisers for the 2024–2025 school year; that motion passed 5–0. The board approved Meredith Nelson as the district representative to the Yuma Education Foundation and approved the FY 2024–25 qualified evaluators as presented, and approved a corrected extracurricular stipend at Desert View Elementary (changing "Kindness Club" to "Beginning Band").
On personnel matters the board ratified a list of new employees (items 1–24), accepted resignations (items 1–3), approved retirements (items 1–2), changed a termination recommendation to an accepted resignation effective when a letter is submitted, approved transfers and salary changes (items 1–7) and approved releases of contract (items 1–2). Motions and seconds were recorded for each item; the meeting record shows the personnel items passed where tallies are given.
The board scheduled its next regular meeting for Oct. 8, 2024 and adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
