The Hobart City Redevelopment Authority voted to approve proposed festival kickoff dates in June, July and September and to proceed with the market season planning.
The presenter leading the proposal said the plan largely mirrors last year's approach and would use the grass area directly behind the presenter's restaurant for the stage and sound. "So we're doing the same thing as last year... June, July, and September dates," the presenter said, noting no major changes other than the added kickoff dates.
The presenter acknowledged accessibility concerns and local attendance patterns, saying a woman who uses a wheelchair attends regularly and that staff would ensure accommodations. The presenter also said they will appear before the public works board to request a parking permit and to work through on-site logistics before the events.
Chair moved the motion to approve the proposed dates; the motion was seconded and carrying votes were recorded by voice vote. Chair declared "motion carries" after the voice vote.
The approval lets staff move forward with vendor selection and operational planning; the presenter and events staff will follow up with public works on the parking permit and final site logistics.
