Commission approves roof replacement and ventilation upgrades at 159 Washington Street

The Canal Winchester Landmarks Commission voted May 26 to approve a Certificate of Appropriateness to replace wind-damaged shingles at 159 Washington Street with IKO Dynasty 'Driftshake' asphalt shingles and to bring the roof up to code by installing OSB sheathing and adding crickets to both chimneys.
Applicant Shawn Kilbarger was present and provided color samples. Commissioners clarified that the fascia will remain unchanged; Mr. Craycraft asked whether the current roof has a drip edge and the applicant confirmed it does and it will remain white. The Commission also noted that a ridge vent will be added for additional ventilation.
A motion by Pete Lynch, seconded by David Craycraft, approved Certificate of Appropriateness #CA-26-014 with one condition: the drip edge must be white. The vote was 7–0 in favor.
