At its June 10 meeting the Village of Garland Board of Trustees approved several routine items and reviewed ongoing village business.
The board approved a proposal from Miller & Associates for a composite plat map of village limits at a cost of $1,950; Chair Todd Strauss moved the approval and Trustee Bryce Standley seconded. Trustees also approved reimbursement of a $34.26 credit to a former utility customer on a motion by Strauss and second by Standley.
Trustees discussed installing a handrail at the Village Hall entrance to improve safety and accessibility but took no formal action. Under old business they discussed nuisance properties with no action recorded. The clerk reported Garland remains on Seward County’s mosquito spraying schedule and will follow up if spraying does not occur in June.
Planning Commission Chair Adams updated trustees on recent activities: the board discussed potential candidates for village attorney and agreed to further review options; virtual Planning Commission meetings may be used for non-action meetings while in-person quorums will be required for official votes; the clerk was directed to forward building permit applications to the Planning Commission for rolling review and to create a dedicated community assistance page on the Village Facebook page. Chair Adams also reported there were no public copies of the Seward County regulations other than a few copies at the county office.
Maintenance lead Regnier reported repairs to equipment including the Gator and a truck alternator, plans to repaint no-parking zones and future work to stabilize the stairwell behind Village Hall; trustees discussed repairing a broken tractor window with plexiglass.
No public comments were recorded. The board set its next regular meeting for July 7, 2026, at 7:00 PM and adjourned at 9:12 PM.
