City Manager Chris Lovell and Assistant City Manager Nathan Clark led administrative updates. City Clerk Dawnne Greene summarized clerk‑office matters and Finance Director Derrick Cowart delivered a finance overview. Human Resources Director Donna Wood and EOM (Public Works & Parks) leaders Brandon Fulton and Katie Davis provided operational updates. Planning and Zoning Director Brian Crooks and Convention & Visitors Bureau Director Christy Sherman offered planning and CVB briefings. Interim Police Chief Cary Hill and Fire Chief Brendon Greene provided public‑safety status reports.
A scheduled presentation on fire funding by Ed DiTommaso was canceled because the presenter was unable to attend; no alternate presenter or new date was recorded in the retreat minutes. Council members then toured the Fire Training Facility on Elbow Swamp Road to review current capabilities and equipment, accompanied by Fire Chief Brendon Greene and city staff.
