Council discusses LMIG resurfacing nominations and formal surplus process for retired firearms

Assistant City Manager Nathan Clark and councilmembers discussed potential resurfacing candidates for the Georgia Department of Transportation’s LMIG program; staff noted the application deadline is Feb. 1, 2026 and suggested Main Street at Harris Trail and possible work on 4th Street, 2nd Street, Camellia Street and Oleander Street.
Clark also said the city will establish a formal surplus procedure for firearms issued to the former police chief and other retired officers so those assets can be disposed of or handled under a consistent policy. No formal actions were taken during the workshop; staff will return with application materials and a proposed surplus policy or procedures for council consideration.
