Gila Bend council adopts zoning, noise code updates and approves Cinco de Mayo alcohol permit

At its March 10 meeting, the Town of Gila Bend Town Council unanimously approved a package of land‑use and code changes and authorized a special‑event alcohol permit application for the town’s Cinco de Mayo celebration.
The council adopted Ordinance No. 2026‑02, amending Title 15 (zoning) and the town’s Subdivision Regulations to implement administrative review procedures for certain site plans and plats and to align local rules with A.R.S. §9‑500.49. Community Planner Sandra Hoffman told the council the Planning & Zoning Commission had recommended the ordinance by a 4‑0 vote following public review and work sessions; no public comments were offered during the council hearing.
The council also adopted Ordinance No. 2026‑03, which repeals the existing noise provisions in Section 130.04 and adopts updated noise regulations in a new Chapter 134. Town Attorney Allen Quist said he incorporated feedback from prior work sessions and said enforcement will be coordinated with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and Paloma Security.
Finally, the council approved submitting a special‑event alcohol permit to the Arizona Department of Liquor License and Control to allow sale of beer and wine at the Cinco de Mayo event scheduled for May 1, 2026.
