Gadsden board waives student activity fee for 2024–25 and approves recycling of outdated technology

At its July 9 meeting the Gadsden Elementary School District Governing Board approved a recommendation to waive the student activity fee for the 2024''2025 school year so donations can qualify for state tax credit. Chief Financial Officer Mr. Bernhard told the board that charging a fee is a prerequisite for donations to receive state tax credit; administration recommended the district waive the fee because the district's food service program is over 90% free and reduced-price.
Governing Board Clerk Tadeo De La Hoya moved to approve the Student Activity Fee and waiver; Member Liliana Arroyo seconded. The motion passed 5''0''on a recorded vote.
The board also approved a plan to dispose of outdated and unsupported technology equipment by recycling at no cost to the district through RebootTechRecycling. Mr. Bernhard provided a list of items and photographs to the board. Governing Board Member Rosa Varela moved to approve the disposal by recycling; Clerk Tadeo De La Hoya seconded and the motion passed 5''0''.
No dollar amounts for the student activity fee or projected savings from the recycling action were provided in the public record at the meeting.
