On Oct. 6, 2025, the Woodbine City Council voted unanimously to issue a letter recommending support for the Southeastern Trust for Parks and Land’s proposed acquisition of the 518‑acre Lumberjack South property in Camden County, Georgia.
Ashby Worley of The Nature Conservancy told the council the purchase would enable installation of a publicly accessible boat ramp along a remote 40‑mile section of the Satilla River and would add an access point to the Satilla River Water Trail, increasing opportunities for boating, kayaking and fishing in the area. Worley asked the city to send a letter of support for the acquisition.
The council placed the item under New Business after City Administrator Samantha Young requested the agenda be amended to add the letter as Item 10a. Rick Baird moved to issue a letter of recommendation; C.C. Higginbotham seconded, and Mayor Kizzi Knight declared the motion unanimously approved.
The minutes record the council’s vote to issue the letter. The agenda amendment and the motion to authorize the letter were recorded as formal actions; no additional funding, timeline or implementation steps were included in the public minutes.
