Vendor and police present FLOCK camera options to Thomaston DDA; data storage question raised

Mason Mischler of FLOCK presented camera-placement options and associated pricing to the Downtown Development Authority on June 11, outlining how the vendor would position cameras within the downtown footprint.
Chief Mike Richardson of the City of Thomaston Police Department described examples in which FLOCK cameras had been used to aid in suspect identification and apprehension. Mayor Pro-Tem Troy Chaney asked about data storage and retention; Mischler answered the board's questions about system operation and storage practices. Economic Development Director Taylor Smith said he would confer with City Manager Russell Thompson before any decision is made.
The board received the presentation but took no formal vote on camera procurement. Smith also shared the Georgia Main Street Program's 2025 Community Impact Report, highlighting more than $12 million in combined public and private investment in the DDA district in 2025.
Board members requested follow-up information on data storage, pricing details and recommended locations to allow a city-level decision later.
