Thomaston HPC recommends Ryan Gill to fill unexpired term; interns to digitize downtown properties

At the June 8 meeting the Historic Preservation Commission interviewed applicant Ryan Gill and recommended his appointment to fill the unexpired term of Grady Kilgore.
Ryan Gill described himself as a licensed residential and commercial painter and said he had served as the preferred historic contractor for three theaters in downtown Augusta. Alison Uphold moved to recommend Gill for appointment; Ted Kandler seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
In other business Taylor J. Smith briefed commissioners on a forthcoming internship program and the use of a digital "Booms Tracker" from Main Street America that interns will use to digitize downtown property records. Smith also proposed establishing a Historic Heritage or Lifetime Achievement Award to honor long-serving commission members such as Walter Brown, Brenda Tabb, Lila Bryant and Martha Brewton; the commission asked that the idea be developed further.
The commission adjourned at 3:14 p.m.
