Taylor Smith reviewed the development process and goals for the 2026 Thomaston Main Street Workplan and asked board members to return in June prepared to discuss partners, specific tasks, responsibilities, timelines and budget needs.
Smith presented a draft organizational chart and program for a Thomaston Main Street Advisory Board prepared by Community & Economic Engagement Manager Colleen Cook and asked members to submit recommended changes to Cook within two weeks so the program could be adopted at the June meeting.
Presenter Rick Jacques unveiled a revised branding concept focused on folk art, storytelling and patchwork intended to create a cohesive downtown identity. Glenn McCary, who has a background in graphic design, provided comments; Smith asked McCary to work with Jacques to finalize a concept and create simple prototypes for a street sign, a parking lot sign and a sign for the Thomaston Exchange to bring back to the board in June.
The board voted to move the branding/logo discussion until after the Main Street Advisory Board item to ensure sequential review and adequate time for feedback.
