DDA approves $5,000 facade reimbursement for H.J. Wings & Things at 108 W. Main

The Downtown Development Authority voted May 21 to approve a $5,000 facade grant reimbursement to Doughmain Properties for work at H.J. Wings & Things, 108 W. Main Street.
Taylor Smith, Economic Development Director for the City of Thomaston, presented completion photos and said the project included replacement of rotted wood, installation of new Hardie and cement board, exterior painting, lighting and signage. Smith reported total project costs of $23,525.58; the board approved $5,000 to be reimbursed to the property owner.
Chairwoman Catherine Baity moved to approve the reimbursement; Darren Day seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Smith said one of three outstanding facade projects has submitted a reimbursement request and that Milltown Bath & Candle should be ready for reimbursement by late summer. He also noted the Upson Historical Society plans to apply for a facade grant in June to continue repairs to the Pettigrew White Stamps House.
The approval is part of the DDA’s continuing facade grant program; board members were encouraged to identify potential 2026 projects for consideration at future meetings.
