"They gave out free energy saving kits, each worth about $80," the Town Supervisor said, adding that about 15–20 people attended a prior Fairview session and that organizers require attendees to remain for the full seminar to receive a kit. He proposed a community session from 6 to 7 p.m. and a brief presentation to the board at 7:30 p.m.
Councilmembers discussed practical details, including which room to use and how to clear space while other work continues. "I think it makes sense to use the auditorium, because there's still gonna be work going on in the back," one councilmember said, and urged that organizers be explicit that attendees must attend the seminar to receive a kit.
Another board member cautioned staff to manage expectations about the giveaway, saying the process must prevent people from showing up only to collect a kit. The Town Clerk noted organizers will manage sign‑in and distribution so kits are given only after seminar attendance.
The board also discussed coordinating the event with the town's Energy Efficiency Committee and arranging a short presentation by committee lead Leslie Davis either at the community seminar or at the March board meeting. No formal vote was taken; the supervisor said he would follow up with committee members and the Sustainable Westchester organizers and that the board would consider placing a brief presentation on the March 2 agenda.
