Council reviews $7,000 change order to add grading at Jones Subdivision

Troy Nemmers of engineering firm Bolton & Menk presented a proposed change order that would add $7,000 to the Jones Subdivision project to grade the south lot. He said utilities were stubbed in when the project was bid but grading for that lot had been excluded to keep initial costs down.
Nemmers told the council grading that area would create additional crop loss and said elevations should be checked to ensure surface water drains toward the retention pond. Public Works Superintendent Brent Brown discussed drainage measures that have been planned to direct runoff into the pond.
Council members agreed to schedule a follow-up work session to determine lot pricing once the grading, elevation and drainage questions are resolved. The council also noted that review of information from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers will be handled at an upcoming regular meeting rather than the work session.
The work session began at 5:00 p.m. and adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
