Truman Days organizers ask for extra trash, street closure; council approves pool staff changes

During public comment at the July 8 meeting, Nancy Salic of the Truman Days committee asked the council for additional trash containers and portable restrooms at the park, requested closure of the east-side park street for Saturday and asked that County Line verify electrical outlets; Deputy Clerk Carol Becker said an additional dumpster has been ordered. Paul Leimer raised separate items including a nuisance residential property (citation issued), a request to add pickleball at Graf Park, turning on the park drinking fountain, concerns about drainage adjacent to the subdivision project, and requests to repair streets before Truman Days.

Under new business, Councilor Patty Truax reported a pool manager resignation (Melanie Smith). The council voted to accept the resignation and, on motion by Councilor Ron Kelley seconded by Councilor Chris Mosloski, approved hiring Ella Nagorske as assistant manager and naming Jackson Clow and Tyson Meinert as headguard and headguard/assistant manager respectively. Councilor Truax will provide wage rates to office staff for the new positions. The Truman Days committee also requested and was granted permission to open the city time capsule on Sunday at noon prior to raffle drawings.

No final decision on street closures or additional restroom counts was recorded beyond ordering an extra dumpster and directing staff to check electrical outlets; the council invited baseball association board members to the July 15 meeting to discuss benefit coverage for two teen hires.
