The council was told Small Cities Assistance from the state will provide $21,178 this year and the program will now deliver annual aid based on revenue generated; staff recommended using the funds within two years and considering them in the 2025 budget or in conjunction with other projects.
Public works updates included two watermain breaks scheduled for repair, a recently repaired bucket truck (repair cost exceeded initial estimates), a street sweeper out of service with about $1,800 in parts on order, and imminent seal-coat work that will include the cemetery.
Discussion on a building demolition invoice was tabled to the Aug. 19 meeting so the absent councilor could participate. The council approved the Mensing pay request and most claims during the meeting.
