Middletown council, redevelopment commission back Holic LLC redevelopment and hire a dispatcher

The Middletown Town Council and the Middletown Redevelopment Commission met jointly on Feb. 21, 2017, and unanimously adopted a joint resolution supporting Holic LLC’s planned acquisition and development of industrial property in Middletown.
Council Member Dave Wagner moved to adopt RESOLUTION 2017-02-21-01, and Donita Chambless seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The Redevelopment Commission also voted unanimously to adopt the same resolution. The resolution was presented as a joint action of the two bodies in support of Holic LLC’s acquisition and development of improved industrial real property in the town.
At the meeting Vicky Johnson of the Fall Fun Fest Committee presented plans for a community festival to be held in September on Locust Street between 5th and 6th Streets, with use of the Civic Center and Historical Society parking lots. By consensus the council approved the committee’s plans.
The Dispatch Supervisor recommended hiring Lisa Everitt as a Dispatcher Grade 1. Council Member Dave Wagner moved to hire Lisa Everitt per the recommendation; Betty Riley seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Town Council President Jake Smith distributed town code materials related to ordinance enforcement and asked members to review the documents and prepare recommendations for changes or additions at the next council meeting.
Clerk-Treasurer Drew Cooper reported that the town’s AT&T Centrex phone system contract will expire on May 1, 2017. Jake Smith and Dave Wagner volunteered to meet with an AT&T representative to discuss options for the town.
