Greencastle board approves Chromebooks, scoreboard, trips, project resolutions and $1,500 donation (one abstention)

The Greencastle Community School Corporation board on March 16 approved a series of routine and capital items including a Dell Chromebook purchase slated for the 2026-27 school year, a new football scoreboard, overnight student trips and several project resolutions.
Superintendent Jeff Gibboney recommended the Chromebook purchase and the scoreboard proposal; the board approved both recommendations in separate motions. The board also approved an overnight trip for the Greencastle High School diving team to the state championship (Feb. 27-28, 2026) and an overnight choir trip to New York scheduled for June 10-14, 2027.
Gibboney reviewed district projects and recommended three resolutions: a Resolution Determining Need For Project, approval of the Form of Third Amendment to Lease, and reapproval of the Building Corporation; the board approved each resolution. The superintendent noted a pre-bid meeting for the DM and McAnally roofs scheduled for March 18, 2026.
The board approved Special Services contracts including summer speech services, a 2026-2027 Speech and Language Pathologist contract with Shelbi Slack, a 2026-2027 Blind and Low Vision contract with Paula Bernsten, and a DHH Connections, LLC contract with Kimberly Yenerich.
The board approved permission to pay late-arriving invoices for March 2026 and accepted a $1,500 donation from Jack Dalton to GHS Champions Together. The minutes record the donation vote as 4 yea, 1 abstain, with Isaac Case abstaining.
Most consent and new-business items were approved by voice motion with Mr. Beasley or Mr. Case moving and Mrs. Inman commonly seconding; minutes record motions as carried unanimously for many items and record the single abstention on the donation.
