Union City Borough will proceed with a targeted sewer-line repair at Municipal Lot #1 after the council approved a $22,295 contract with Mansfield on Aug. 13.
Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips described the site conditions: a missing 68’ section toward the municipal authority pipe bottom in one direction, a covered manhole in the other, and recommendations from engineers to replace the 24-inch clay tile in the sinkhole area, reconnect pipes feeding the location, install a larger catch basin adjacent to the sinkhole and replace roughly 10 feet of pipe.
The borough presented two contractor estimates: Mansfield at $22,295 and McLallen Construction at $23,450; both bids required the borough to provide a truck during the work. Councilor Steadman moved and Councilor Osborn seconded awarding the work to Mansfield; the motion passed unanimously.
Public Works is assigned to coordinate with the contractor and supply the borough truck as required. The council recorded follow-up tasks to schedule the work and obtain completion documentation once the project is finished.
