Gray flags uncovered well on Dixie Street; city sets festival date and notes employee retirement

Guest Chuck Richardson reported to the Gray Mayor and Council that there is an uncovered well on private property off Dixie Street and said community members are trying to locate the property owner so it can be secured.
Main Street Director Ashley Roberson told the council that the Hometown Spring Fest is scheduled for April 25, 2026; vendors will be set up from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with music planned that night. Mayor Ed Barbee said he attended a workforce housing class hosted by DCA in Warner Robins and encouraged council members to attend similar training when possible.
Mayor Pro Tem James Collins announced Thaxton Pennamon as employee of the month for March. Police Chief Adam Lowe said Pennamon has served the city for 15 years and plans to retire April 1, 2026. No formal council action was taken on these announcements at the meeting; the uncovered well item recorded community concern that may require follow-up to identify the property owner and secure the well.
