City Superintendent Cheyenne Morgan briefed the Gray Mayor and Council on March 16 that Stone Creek Subdivision had requested a water/sewer capacity letter and that the council reached consensus to authorize him to issue the letter. Morgan said the item will be added to the council’s April 6 agenda for ratification.
Morgan also reported that Ngina Porch with the Georgia Environmental Protection Division contacted him about well #117 on Scott Jackson’s property. "I am not sure how much longer the city will be able to keep the project on well #117 open before the EPD requires it to be abandoned," Morgan said. City Attorney John D. Newberry said he will set up a meeting with Scott Jackson to discuss the city’s options.
The superintendent described a separate storm drainage problem in Natures Walk in which stormwater is overflowing and passing through a resident’s yard. Morgan said he will work with the city attorney to obtain permission or an easement from the property owner so the city can address the problem. On a separate streets-and-sewer question, Council Member Terry Favors asked whether cars parked on Arnold Road would damage the sewer system; Morgan said he does not believe they would.
The council’s authorization to issue the capacity letter was recorded as consensus rather than a formal motion with a recorded roll-call vote; the superintendent indicated staff will seek ratification at the next regular meeting.
