Huntington completes Cadence acquisition; Gray council hears local branch staffing updates

Wesley Casteel, representing Cadence/Huntington, told the Gray Mayor and Council on March 16 that Huntington Bank’s acquisition of Cadence Bank became legal on Feb. 1, 2026. Casteel said Huntington maintains a government banking department and that he has been named the government banker for the State of Georgia. He introduced Missy Tanner as his service specialist and Candice Pharr as the new branch manager for the Gray location.
The update was presented during the Finance/Tax Committee portion of the meeting as part of routine briefings to the mayor and council. Officials did not take formal action regarding the acquisition; the report was informational. The council was also told that 93.84% of 2025 property taxes have been collected, providing the current high-level revenue collection rate for municipal budgeting.
