Jones County Commissioners approve property sale, mutual aid agreement, ARPA computer purchase and routine budget items

The Jones County Commissioners Court approved a package of routine business on June 8, including a property sale, contracts, budget amendments and administrative items.
Property sale and contracts: The court approved a bid of $1,000 from Michael Marugg and Tammy Marugg to purchase parcel R27317 (Lot 1-2, Block 43, Original Town of Stamford), waiving court costs. Commissioners also approved a contract with Certified Payments to accept credit and debit cards for the Compliance Office, County Attorney's Office and the Justice of the Peace Office.
Public safety and interagency coordination: Commissioners approved a mutual aid agreement enabling complex emergency response and investigation planning between the Sheriff's Office and other regional first responders. The court also approved a $25 correction to be paid from facility revenue for the AMR ambulance service agreement.
ARPA and equipment: The court authorized Judge Dale Spurgin to purchase computers from the Sheriff's Department using ARPA funds.
Finance and administration: The 2027 holiday schedule was adopted; the Treasurer's report was approved; the court approved budget amendments and line-item transfers, and authorized payment of county bills as presented by the Auditor. Where recorded, votes were unanimous.
What comes next: The approved items proceed to administrative implementation (contracts to be executed, budget entries recorded and ARPA purchases arranged). Several major agenda items — including multiple proposed solar projects, a Lancium LLC data center update, bridge inspection results and an SB 22 audit report — were discussed without formal action and remain on the court’s agenda for future consideration.
