Commission members and staff used the Jan. 12 meeting to outline outreach plans and upcoming community events.
Staff announced a Triangle Artworks cohort social on Jan. 29 at Lyndon House to discuss the Animal Services, Morton and Library mural calls; Lantern Parade was noted for March 7 and its artist call remains open. Members also reported that the Athens Creatives Directory reached 101 participants and that Athens-Clarke County government has allocated a small amount of funding for website upkeep; Create Athens will pivot toward consumer engagement to promote the directory.
Members shared a handful of community announcements including a PAC 30th anniversary gala and screening on Jan. 26, The Cottage production Feb. 5–7, MLK Day of Service volunteer opportunities, and the 51st Juried Exhibition at Lyndon House closing Jan. 20. An application clinic was recently held at Lyndon House and auditions for an Athens Creative Theatre production were announced.
The commission encouraged participation in upcoming events and promoted engagement opportunities for local artists and volunteers.
