Resident Jeff Sutton asked the council for an update on an invoice he presented March 6, 2025 seeking payment for damage he says occurred when his car hit a pothole on Cuyler Street in January 2023. Attorney Coogle told the council the claim had been forwarded to the city’s insurance company and he was awaiting a response; Sutton disputed that account and said he had raised the matter earlier in 2024.
Mayor Daniels said the invoice had been given to him at the March 6 council meeting and that the city attorney indicated this was the first time he had been told about the claim. Sutton said he and Attorney Coogle had discussed the issue previously outside their buildings and that he had expected the city attorney to handle it earlier; Coogle disputed that recollection. Council did not take any formal action during the work session and Attorney Coogle said he would contact the insurance company to follow up.
The council adjourned at 6:56 p.m.
