Parks staff report AED installations, boardwalk redecking and Hickory Street bathroom timeline

Parks and Recreation staff on March 11 updated the advisory committee on maintenance and capital improvements across city parks, including AED installations, boardwalk redecking, Atlantic Recreation Center repairs and upcoming bathroom installation at Hickory Street Park.
Scott Michaelson, Parks and Recreation director, said staff have installed new AED units at multiple sites and will coordinate a social-media announcement to inform the public where devices are located. North Beach Park redecking work began March 3; Michaelson said crews have completed initial redecking and will continue with roof-quote work while the boardwalk is partially closed. Repointing of the Atlantic Recreation Center east-side auditorium required a temporary pool closure; window replacements are planned for April.
Michaelson said stanchion fabrication for the skate-park repair is scheduled for April 7–18 and that the third phase of skate-park rehabilitation will be completed after that work. He also reported that the city has ordered pre-fabricated bathrooms for Hickory Street Park with an installation goal in May and that utilities work to the site is complete.
On fields, staff said Elm Street is under review to address localized issues and that work on the Martin Luther King Rec Center fields and a potential Elm Street Little League solution is advancing; staff expect to report further details at upcoming meetings. Michaelson thanked facilities staff and other departments for assistance and said a pre-bid meeting for Atlantic Recreation Center bathroom and locker-room work closes March 27.
The committee accepted the updates and was reminded the next meeting is April 8, when staff expect to bring waterfront-play-structure concepts and additional design material.
