A group of neighbors from the High Street and Church Street area attended the Sept. 8 meeting to ask what the town could do about a nearby property in disrepair. Complainants said the yard was overgrown with weeds and debris, that loud music played late at night and early in the morning, and that possums, snakes and other animals had become a nuisance.
Council thanked the residents for attending and advised that county dispatch is the appropriate channel for immediate noise and animal complaints. For code-enforcement issues tied to weeds and debris, John and Ben said they will inspect the property and take appropriate action under town code.
The council did not record a formal enforcement motion at this meeting beyond the staff follow-up direction; residents were told the matter would be investigated.
