Truman council accepts $48,356 bid to repair power plant roof

The Truman City Council on July 15 approved a $48,356 bid from A-1 Seamless to repair the power plant roof, with the cost to be covered from electric fund reserves. Utility Foreman Brent Brown told the council there were no bidders for a sloped roof, and the three flat-roof bids obtained in November identified A-1 Seamless as the low bidder.
Councilor Brian Nickerson moved to accept the bid; Patty Truax seconded the motion and the council voted unanimously in favor. Council members also directed staff to obtain a recommendation and an estimate from A-1 Seamless for repairs to the PUC office roof.
Brown reported a separate issue related to a residential development on 7th Avenue: the contractor is having difficulty meeting compaction requirements necessary before paving. Staff recommended installing drain tile and will continue to monitor the project’s readiness for paving.
Work on the power plant roof is expected to proceed under the awarded contract; the council did not set a work start date at the meeting.
