Centerville council approves routine minutes, claims and permits for Aug. 29 and Sept. 19

The Centerville Talent Council carried a series of routine actions at its Aug. 12 meeting, approving minutes from July meetings, passing claims and a billing adjustment, and granting permits for short-term street use for town events.
The chair opened minutes approval for 07/08/2025 and, after a motion by Gary and a second by David, the council approved the minutes. The council likewise approved the 07/29/2025 work session minutes and later approved claims and a billing adjustment following motions and recorded roll-call 'Aye' responses.
On new business the council considered a request to close a street on Aug. 29 from 1 to 3 p.m. for a small festivity. A council member asked for a condition that emergency vehicle access remain available; the member asked, "Providing there's still easy access for fire emergencies. Right?" The council moved the street-closure request (moved by Gary, seconded by David) and the motion carried.
The council also approved the school’s request for a homecoming parade on Sept. 19 at 5 p.m.; the motion to allow the parade was made by Jack, seconded by David, and carried with recorded 'Aye' votes. Other announcements included a 20-day festival Aug. 22–24, a work session Aug. 26 at 7 p.m., employee days and community volunteer activities; the meeting adjourned after a motion to close the session passed.
The fire/EMS representative reported July activity: "For the month of July, we dispatched 61 runs, 30 medical related, 25 fire related, and 6" in other categories, and said the department is seeking quotes for a new command vehicle. The council discussed larger equipment needs (trash truck and leaf collector), noting estimated lead times and costs for capital purchases.
