Kathy Sabatini of Parks & Recreation used the council meeting to promote the city’s annual recycling event and to request youth volunteers for sorting and collection. She said the drive "doesn't matter if you live in city or county" and urged students to collect Bright Futures volunteer hours by helping; she offered to sign release forms and supply flyers electronically.
Sabatini outlined volunteer duties (assisting donors to unload items, avoiding hazardous tasks) and said the city has used many youth volunteers in prior years and that one year more than 1,000 people participated in a short window. She asked the Youth Advisory Council to help publicize the event; members agreed to share the flyer with school groups such as National Honor Society.
Sabatini also noted that Barnabas food pantry receives collected food donations and stressed the need for adult supervision and parental release forms for any youth volunteers. She offered to provide contact information and digital materials for members to distribute.
The council volunteered to assist with outreach and agreed the Parks staff would supply the electronic flyer and volunteer-release paperwork.
