Town Administrator reports EMS discussions, upcoming school bond referendum, permits and tax delinquencies

At the Nov. 26 meeting Town Administrator Samantha Mank reported she had attended a meeting about the future of EMS services for towns still under contract with NEMHS and said the town will meet with NEMHS to discuss cost-control options and contract standards following Rockport’s departure from the consortium.
Mank said she submitted a letter to the Maine EMS Board outlining potential financial impacts to Hope taxpayers should Rockport be granted a transport license; Camden and Lincolnville submitted similar letters. She also said interviews for the Deputy Clerk position have begun and that the Five Towns CSD will hold a referendum bond election on Jan. 14, 2025 for a variety of projects; the projects and bond amount were not specified.
Mank asked whether the Select Board would consider closing the Town Office on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. She reported four building permits and one plumbing permit issued since the 11/12/24 meeting and gave the following real estate account balances: FY2025 — 1,010 accounts totaling $1,836,557.71 (second half due April 30, 2025); FY2024 — 21 accounts totaling $39,689.86 (automatic foreclosure Feb. 20, 2026 if unpaid); FY2023 — 8 accounts totaling $24,202.81 (automatic foreclosure Feb. 11, 2025 if unpaid).
