Select Board member to attend Morrill meeting after invitation about alleged grant 'hidden agenda'; board hears MCSW update

During Other Business on Nov. 26, Select Board member Crystal Robinson reported that the Morrill Select Board had invited nearby towns to a Dec. 12 meeting at the Morrill Community Center to discuss what Morrill described as a "hidden agenda" behind accepting federal and state grant money. The minutes record that the Morrill meeting will include a claim described by the invitation as "the UN land grab of 30% of our property." Robinson said she would like to attend and asked whether any other Select Board members wanted to join her.
Select Board member Joe Tassi said he reviewed the sites mentioned in the invitation and found statements lacking factual support, saying he would be upset if the claim were true but that he had seen only statements without evidence. The meeting is scheduled for Dec. 12 at 6:30 p.m.
Earlier in Other Business, Chair Sarah Ann Smith provided an extensive update on Mid Coast Solid Waste (MCSW) activities and praised Dave St. Laurent for innovative and forward-thinking work; the minutes record no formal action on MCSW items.
The board did not vote on attending the Morrill meeting; Crystal indicated her intention to go and asked if others would join.
