Hope Select Board approves Resilient Communities Partnership resolution, 3-1

The Hope Select Board voted 3-1 on Nov. 26 to approve and sign the Resilient Communities Partnership Municipal Resolution, a step the board said enables the town to pursue related resilience grant opportunities.
The vote came after public comment from Select Board member Crystal Robinson, who asked to speak as a private resident and said the town had not been transparent about the grant materials. "The website didn’t have the Resilient Communities Partnership Grant information on it for Hope residents to read," Robinson said during the public comment period. Town Administrator Samantha Mank replied that the documents were posted on the town website under announcements, included as links on a mailed survey and shared on local Facebook pages, and that Knox County pays Midcoast Council of Governments (MCOG) membership dues for municipalities.
Charlie Weidman moved to approve and sign the municipal resolution; Joe Tassi seconded the motion. The motion passed with Sarah Ann Smith, Charlie Weidman and Joe Tassi voting yes and Crystal Robinson voting no.
Supporters said joining the partnership positions the town to apply for state or federal resilience funds and related planning assistance. Robinson said her opposition reflected concerns about public notice and how the town communicates grant opportunities to residents.
The resolution was signed at the meeting. The town did not specify at the meeting any approved projects or a funding amount tied to the resolution.
